Covi Vax

Covi Vax (NRC-VACC-101) is an inactivated whole-virus vaccine developed by Egypt's National Research Centre (NRC) in collaboration with Vaccine Valley to prevent COVID-19. The vaccine utilizes the hCoV-19/Egypt/NRC-03/2020 strain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which is chemically inactivated and formulated with an aluminum hydroxide (alum) adjuvant to enhance the immune response. By presenting the entire inactivated virion to the immune system, the vaccine aims to induce a broad range of neutralizing antibodies and T-cell responses against various viral components, including the spike protein. It is the first COVID-19 vaccine to be fully developed within Egypt and entered Phase 1 clinical trials in November 2021 to assess its safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy volunteers.
