Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Convalescent plasma-Inova Health Care Services-COVID-19 is a biological therapy developed by Inova Health Care Services for the treatment of severe or life-threatening COVID-19 in hospitalized patients. The therapy involves the transfusion of plasma collected from individuals who have recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection, which contains high titers of virus-specific neutralizing antibodies. These antibodies provide passive immunity by binding to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, thereby preventing viral entry into host cells and suppressing viral replication. The efficacy and safety of this specific intervention were evaluated in the Phase 2/3 Inova-CCP clinical trial.
