Drug intelligence / Profile preview
COVID-19 human immunoglobulin is a plasma-derived hyperimmune globulin developed by Weiguang Biological Products for the passive immunotherapy and prophylaxis of COVID-19. It is manufactured from the pooled plasma of individuals with high titers of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, typically recovered patients or vaccinated individuals. The preparation contains a diverse population of polyclonal antibodies that specifically bind to viral surface antigens, primarily the spike (S) protein, neutralizing the virus and preventing its attachment to the ACE2 receptor on host cells. This provides immediate, though temporary, immunity to the recipient and is intended to reduce viral load and prevent severe disease progression in infected individuals.
