Covid-19-S vaccine

Covid-19-S vaccine is an investigational oral vaccine candidate developed by iosBio for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine is designed to express the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein to elicit a protective immune response. It utilizes iosBio's proprietary OraPro technology, which enables the oral administration of viral vectors (typically non-replicating adenovirus) by stabilizing them against the harsh, acidic environment of the gastrointestinal tract. This platform is intended to facilitate easier distribution by potentially eliminating the need for cold-chain storage and to enhance protection by inducing mucosal immunity directly at the site of viral entry in the gut and respiratory tract. As of 2024, the program is in the IND-enabling phase of development.
