COVID-19 S-Vax loaded autologous dendritic cells is a personalized, cell-based vaccine developed to prevent COVID-19. The therapy involves isolating monocytes from a patient's peripheral blood, differentiating them into dendritic cells ex vivo, and then loading these cells with recombinant SARS-CoV‑2 spike (S) protein. The antigen-loaded autologous dendritic cells are then administered back to the patient as a subcutaneous injection. This approach aims to induce both T-cell and B-cell immune responses by leveraging the potent antigen-presenting capabilities of dendritic cells, which can activate CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells through costimulatory signals. Clinical trials have demonstrated that this vaccine is safe and well-tolerated, with mild adverse events being most common. It has shown efficacy in inducing specific immune responses against SARS-CoV‑2 and reducing symptomatic infection rates over 12 months of follow-up[1][2][4][5][6][8].
