Drug intelligence / Profile preview
COVIGEN is a plasmid DNA-based vaccine candidate against SARS-CoV-2, developed by BioNet-Asia in collaboration with Technovalia as part of an Australian COVID-19 vaccine program. It encodes viral antigen sequences intended to induce protective humoral and cellular immune responses against COVID-19 and is delivered intramuscularly using PharmaJet’s Stratis needle-free jet injection system in early clinical studies.[4][10] Preclinical data showed acceptable safety and immunogenicity, leading to a Phase 1/1b trial in healthy adults to assess safety, tolerability, and immune responses as a potential prophylactic vaccine for COVID-19.[4][10]
