Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Covigenix VAX-002 is a plasmid DNA vaccine developed as a booster for COVID-19, specifically targeting the currently circulating omicron strains of SARS-CoV-2. It is formulated using Entos Pharmaceuticals' proprietary Fusogenix proteo-lipid vehicle (PLV) delivery platform, which enables efficient intracellular delivery of the DNA payload encoding key SARS-CoV-2 antigens. The vaccine aims to stimulate robust and durable immune responses and is designed to be fridge-stable, making it suitable for global distribution including in developing countries. Covigenix VAX-002 builds on previous candidates (VAX-001 and VAX-001-1b) and is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials for safety, optimal dosing, and immunogenicity as a COVID-19 booster[1][2][3][5][6].
