Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Covonia is a UK over‑the‑counter brand of multi‑ingredient cough and cold medicines formulated to relieve chesty and dry coughs, sore throat, and associated cold and flu symptoms. Across the range, key actives include expectorants such as guaifenesin or traditional herbal expectorants (liquorice, squill, ipecacuanha) to loosen and aid clearance of bronchial mucus, demulcents such as glycerol and liquorice to soothe irritated pharyngeal mucosa, local antiseptics such as cetylpyridinium chloride to reduce microbial load in the throat, and the decongestant phenylephrine plus analgesic/antipyretic paracetamol in the All‑in‑One formulation to relieve nasal congestion, pain, and fever.[1][2][3][4][6][7][10][11] Formulations are supplied as oral liquids for short‑term symptomatic treatment of coughs, colds, influenza‑like illness, sore throat and related upper respiratory tract conditions in adults and children above age‑specific cut‑offs, and are produced and marketed in the UK by Thornton & Ross.
