Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**coxsackievirus a21 + ipilimumab** is a combination investigational immunotherapy consisting of an oncolytic virus (Coxsackievirus A21, CVA21; branded as CAVATAK or V937) and a monoclonal antibody immune checkpoint inhibitor (ipilimumab; branded as Yervoy)[1][3][5][7]. CVA21 is a bio-selected strain of coxsackievirus A21 that selectively infects and lyses cancer cells, also acting to stimulate immune-cell infiltration and upregulate interferon-gamma response and immune genes[3][7]. Ipilimumab is a human monoclonal antibody targeting CTLA-4, inhibiting negative regulation of T cell activation, thereby boosting anti-tumor immunity[8]. The combination is being evaluated for the treatment of advanced melanoma and metastatic uveal melanoma, where CVA21 is typically administered intralesionally or intravenously, while ipilimumab is received intravenously[1][5][7].
