Overview

CP-002 is a localized, drug-eluting intraprostatic implant being developed by Alessa Therapeutics for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). As part of the Biolen® program, the implant is designed to deliver bicalutamide, a small molecule androgen receptor antagonist, directly into the prostate gland. This site-specific delivery mechanism aims to provide sustained therapeutic levels of the anti-androgen to the target tissue while minimizing systemic exposure, thereby reducing the risk of systemic side effects typically associated with oral androgen deprivation therapies. The Biolen system has undergone Phase 1 clinical evaluation in prostate cancer patients, and CP-002 is specifically being advanced for the BPH indication.
