Overview

CP-506 is a novel hypoxia-activated prodrug (HAP) designed to selectively target and kill hypoxic tumor cells, which are often resistant to conventional therapies. It is a nitroaromatic analogue and acts as a DNA alkylating agent, causing DNA damage specifically in low oxygen environments typical of solid tumors. CP-506 has demonstrated anti-tumor activity in preclinical models and is being developed for use both as monotherapy and in combination with other agents such as carboplatin or immune checkpoint inhibitors. The drug is administered intravenously and aims to exploit the unique microenvironment of hypoxic tumors for therapeutic benefit[3][4][5][7][8].
