Overview

CP-866087 is a small molecule drug developed by Pfizer as a selective mu opioid receptor antagonist. It was investigated in clinical trials for the treatment of obesity, alcoholism, and female sexual arousal disorder (FSAD). Preclinical studies showed that it could antagonize morphine effects and reduce alcohol intake in animal models. In human trials, although some improvements were observed on efficacy endpoints for FSAD, there was no significant clinical benefit over placebo. The compound reached phase II development but has since been discontinued for all known indications[1][2][6][9].
