CP010

CP010 (also known as ALXN1810) is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the C6 component of the complement system. By inhibiting C6, the drug prevents the assembly of the membrane attack complex (MAC), which is the terminal step of the complement cascade responsible for cell lysis and tissue damage in various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. Developed through a collaboration between Complement Pharma and Alexion Pharmaceuticals initiated in 2018, CP010 was primarily investigated for the treatment of neurodegenerative and central nervous system (CNS) disorders, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and myasthenia gravis, as well as ocular conditions like geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The drug was designed for subcutaneous administration to provide a more convenient dosing regimen for chronic conditions. Although it reached early clinical stages (Phase 1/2), the development of CP010 appears to have been discontinued following the acquisition of Alexion by AstraZeneca.
