CP217 is an investigational long-acting injectable formulation of naloxone being developed by Consegna Pharma. It is designed to prevent renarcotization, a condition where opioid toxicity recurs after the initial effects of a short-acting antagonist (like standard naloxone) wear off while potent or long-lasting opioids remain in the body. Developed using Consegna's proprietary Lingua™ technology, CP217 aims to provide sustained therapeutic levels of naloxone to ensure continuous protection against respiratory depression, particularly in the context of overdoses involving synthetic opioids like fentanyl. The project has received support from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) through a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant to utilize modeling and simulation-driven development strategies.
