CP901

CP901 is a long-acting injectable (LAI) depot formulation of the atypical antipsychotic risperidone, currently under development by Consegna Pharma. It is designed as a generic version of Risperdal Consta for the treatment of schizophrenia. CP901 utilizes a sustained-release delivery system to maintain therapeutic levels of risperidone, which acts as an antagonist at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. This mechanism is effective in managing the symptoms of schizophrenia, while the injectable depot format is intended to improve patient adherence compared to daily oral medications. The program is being developed through the Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) regulatory pathway and is currently in the preclinical stage.
