CPB201 is a preclinical biologic candidate developed by Alephoson Biotherapeutics for the treatment of retinal vascular diseases, including neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), and retinal vein occlusion (RVO). The drug utilizes Alephoson's proprietary Cell-Penetrating Bio-delivery (CPB) platform, which employs a cell-penetrating peptide (CPP) technology to facilitate the transport of large therapeutic biologics across biological barriers, such as the ocular surface. CPB201 is designed to target and inhibit vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a key mediator of pathological angiogenesis and vascular leakage in the eye. The primary objective of the CPB platform is to enable non-invasive delivery methods, such as topical eye drops, as an alternative to traditional intravitreal injections for chronic retinal conditions.
