CPB202 is a topical biologic candidate being developed by Alephoson for the treatment of retinal vascular diseases, including neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), diabetic retinopathy (DR), and retinal vein occlusion (RVO). The drug consists of an aflibercept-based biologic conjugated with a cell-penetrating peptide (CPP), a technology designed to facilitate the delivery of large molecules across the ocular surface to the posterior segment of the eye. By neutralizing vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), CPB202 aims to inhibit pathological angiogenesis and vascular leakage, potentially offering a non-invasive eye-drop alternative to the current standard-of-care intravitreal injections. As of 2024, the program is in the IND-enabling/preclinical stage.
