Overview
CPD-PA01 is a bacteriophage cocktail developed by The First Affiliated Hospital of Army Medical University (Southwest Hospital) for the treatment of multidrug-resistant *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* (MDR-PA) infections. The therapy is specifically designed for topical application to infected burn wounds and other open wounds where MDR-PA clearance is difficult with standard antibiotics. As a phage cocktail, it contains multiple distinct lytic bacteriophages that recognize and infect *P. aeruginosa* cells, leading to bacterial lysis and reduction of the bacterial load. It is currently being investigated in Phase I/II clinical trials in China, both as a standalone treatment and in combination with silver sulfadiazine.
