CPFT trifluoroacetate (also known as the kisspeptin analog C6) is a synthetic peptide developed by Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) for the treatment of infertility. It acts as a potent agonist of the kisspeptin receptor (KISS1R, formerly GPR54), which is a key upstream regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. By activating KISS1R on gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons in the hypothalamus, CPFT stimulates the pulsatile release of GnRH. This subsequently triggers the secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the anterior pituitary gland, promoting follicular development and ovulation. The C6 analog was specifically designed to offer improved metabolic stability and a longer half-life compared to native kisspeptin-10, making it a viable therapeutic candidate for conditions such as hypothalamic amenorrhea and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.
