Overview

CPG 10101 is a synthetic oligodeoxynucleotide (ODN) and a potent, selective unmethylated cytidine-phosphate-guanosine (CpG)-containing agonist of toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9). It has antiviral and immunomodulatory properties, designed to induce rapid and sustained immune responses with potential durable anti-viral effects. The drug was primarily developed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, especially in patients who are refractory or non-responsive to standard therapies. Mechanistically, it stimulates TLR9 on immune cells, leading to induction of interferons and other cytokines that enhance antiviral immunity. Clinical studies have shown dose-dependent increases in markers of immune activation and reductions in HCV RNA levels[1][6][8].
