Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CPG1 is a metallogelator derived from coordination polymers, synthesized from a nitrile-functionalized terpyridyl ligand, various dicarboxylic acids, and transition metal salts. It has demonstrated anticancer activity against the melanoma cell line B16-F10, while being noncytotoxic to noncancerous cells. CPG1 inhibits cell migration, induces apoptosis with cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase, and targets side population cells, which are known to reduce metastasis. It also prevents the growth of tumor spheroids. It is being developed as a topical gel for treating skin cancer.
