Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CPL-2009-0031 is a small molecule inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4, also known as CD26 antigen), developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to the chemical classes of amides, fluorobenzenes, piperazines, and triazoles. The drug acts by inhibiting DPP4, an enzyme that degrades incretin hormones such as GLP-1; this inhibition increases endogenous incretin levels and thereby enhances insulin secretion in response to meals while reducing glucagon secretion. CPL-2009-0031 is being developed by Cadila Pharmaceuticals and has reached phase III clinical trials in India for type 2 diabetes mellitus[1][2][5].
