Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CPO-130 is a liposomal formulation of the polyene antifungal amphotericin B, developed by CONJ Biotherapeutics. It is currently in the Pre-NDA/ANDA stage for the treatment of systemic fungal infections. Amphotericin B exerts its antifungal activity by binding to ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. This binding leads to the formation of transmembrane pores, causing the leakage of essential intracellular components and subsequent cell death. The liposomal delivery system is designed to improve the safety profile of amphotericin B, particularly by reducing nephrotoxicity, while maintaining its broad-spectrum antifungal efficacy.
