Overview

CPPtat-S1 peptide is a cell-penetrating competitive peptide designed to inhibit the S-palmitoylation of Cluster of Differentiation 38 (CD38) at Cys16. This peptide functions by interfering with the interaction between CD38 and the palmitoyl transferase ZDHHC9, which is crucial for maintaining CD38 protein expression in tumor cells. By blocking this interaction, CPPtat-S1 peptide leads to a dose-dependent decrease in CD38 protein levels without affecting its transcriptional activity. This mechanism ultimately suppresses tumor progression, as demonstrated in preclinical pancreatic cancer models. The peptide is fused with a cell-penetrating peptide (CPPtat) to enhance its intracellular delivery.
