CPT-021 is a first-in-class, orally administered, neuroinflammation-targeted therapy in development for Alzheimer's disease. It employs a proprietary "pathotargeting" technology that ensures the drug remains inactive as it circulates systemically and only becomes activated within diseased brain regions exhibiting neuroinflammation. Upon activation, CPT-021 completes its synthesis into homotaurine specifically at sites of pathology, potentially improving efficacy and reducing off-target toxicity compared to traditional central nervous system (CNS) drugs that act throughout the brain.
