Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CPT-053 is a preclinical small molecule multi-kinase inhibitor developed by Mercaptor Discoveries for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies. The compound is designed to target Cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1), Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5), and Glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK3B). These kinases are key mediators of tau protein hyperphosphorylation, a process that leads to the formation of neurofibrillary tangles and neurodegeneration. By inhibiting these targets, CPT-053 aims to reduce the pathological accumulation of tau and preserve neuronal function.
