Overview

CPV-156 is a preclinical-stage cyclic thiosulfinate derivative developed by the University of Puerto Rico. It acts as an inhibitor of thioredoxin reductase (TrxR), an enzyme that is frequently overexpressed in various tumors and plays a key role in cell proliferation and redox regulation. In preclinical in vitro screenings, CPV-156 demonstrated significant cytotoxic activity against a panel of breast cancer cell lines, including MCF-7, ZR-75-1, BT-20, MDA-MB-468, SkBr-3, BT-474, and MDA-MB-231, by inhibiting cell growth by 72% to 95%.
