CPX-8

CPX-8 is a preclinical oncology candidate from Celator Pharmaceuticals that consists of a hydrophobic docetaxel prodrug formulated as a nanoparticle using the company’s CombiPlex-derived prodrug nanoparticle technology.[13] By covalently modifying docetaxel to create a more hydrophobic prodrug and assembling it into a nanoparticle, CPX-8 is designed to alter docetaxel’s pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution, potentially enhancing delivery to tumors and improving the therapeutic index compared with conventional docetaxel. Preclinical studies in animal cancer models have shown promising antitumor activity, but CPX-8 has not yet advanced into clinical development.[13]
