Overview

CRA_10655 is an experimental small molecule inhibitor of the urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA), a serine protease that plays a pivotal role in the degradation of the extracellular matrix, thereby facilitating tumor cell invasion and metastasis. Developed by Celera Genomics, the compound was identified through structure-based design efforts aimed at creating potent and selective inhibitors of the uPA system for the treatment of malignant cancers. CRA_10655 has been utilized in structural biology research to characterize the binding pocket of the uPA enzyme, appearing as a ligand in various protein-ligand crystal structures deposited in the Protein Data Bank (PDB). While it served as a significant lead compound in preclinical oncology research, it has not progressed into clinical development and remains a research-stage asset primarily documented in chemical and structural databases.
