Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Crack cocaine is a free base form of the stimulant cocaine, derived from the leaves of the coca plant. It is produced by processing powdered cocaine (cocaine hydrochloride) with a base like sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and water, then heating the mixture to form solid, rock-like crystals. When smoked, it produces a rapid, intense, but short-lived euphoric high due to quick absorption into the bloodstream. It is a powerfully addictive central nervous system stimulant.
