Overview

Crano-cure is a polyherbal formulation developed by researchers at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan, specifically for the treatment of acute uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs). The formulation is composed of aqueous-ethanolic extracts from five medicinal plants: *Tribulus terrestris* (Gokhro), *Vaccinium macrocarpon* (cranberry), *Cuminum cyminum* (Zeera sufaid), *Rheum emodi* (Revand chini), and *Piper cubeba* (Kabab chini). Administered as 500 mg oral capsules twice daily, Crano-cure exhibits broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against common uropathogens such as *Escherichia coli*, *Klebsiella pneumoniae*, *Staphylococcus saprophyticus*, and *Proteus mirabilis*. In addition to its antimicrobial properties, the formulation provides antioxidant and antiseptic effects. Clinical evidence from a randomized trial suggests it serves as a safe and cost-effective alternative to standard antibiotic therapies like ciprofloxacin.
