Crataegus gracilior petroleum ether extract is a research-stage botanical extract derived from the stems and leaves of Mexican hawthorn (*Crataegus gracilior* J. B. Phipps). Unlike other hawthorn species whose antitumor activity resides in polar extracts, the petroleum ether fraction of *C. gracilior* uniquely exhibits cytotoxic properties against breast cancer cells, inducing cell death via apoptosis. The active compounds identified in this extract are β-sitosterol and tocopherol, whose combined activity is believed to drive its cytotoxic and pro-apoptotic effects.
