CRD-2959

CRD-2959 is a small molecule inhibitor of calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII), currently under development by Cardurion Pharmaceuticals. CaMKII is a multifunctional serine/threonine protein kinase that plays a critical role in cardiac signaling; its chronic overactivation is a known driver of pathological processes in the heart, including impaired calcium handling, electrical instability, and adverse structural remodeling. CRD-2959 is designed as a potent and selective inhibitor to address these underlying mechanisms in cardiovascular diseases. The drug is primarily being investigated for the treatment of heart failure, aiming to improve myocardial function and patient outcomes. As of mid-2024, CRD-2959 has advanced into Phase 1 clinical trials to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in humans.
