Creatine lysinate is a synthetic small molecule derivative of creatine, formed by the combination of creatine and the amino acid lysine. Developed primarily by researchers at the Medical University of Sofia, it is designed to overcome the solubility limitations of standard creatine monohydrate, exhibiting significantly higher water solubility (3.3% vs 1.4% at 20°C). In preclinical animal models, the compound has demonstrated muscle-protective effects, evidenced by reduced creatine kinase levels and increased muscle fiber diameter, as well as improvements in motor coordination. It is being investigated as a potential nutritional supplement and therapeutic agent for physical performance enhancement, muscular dystrophies, and neurodegenerative disorders.
