Overview

Creatinolfosfate, also known as Creatinol-O-Phosphate or COP, is a cardioprotective drug and a structural analog of creatine. It functions in energy metabolism within muscle tissues by acting as a phosphagen, donating a phosphate group to ADP to regenerate ATP, which is crucial for muscle contraction. It also acts as an intracellular buffer, helping to prolong anaerobic glycolysis and prevent a significant drop in pH during intense muscle activity. Additionally, it exhibits anti-ischemic and anti-arrhythmic properties, maintaining ATP levels during ischemia, stabilizing cellular membranes, protecting cardiac cells from ischemic damage, and improving post-ischemic contractile function.
