CRES101 is a neuropeptide drug originally developed by Cresence and further developed by biOasis Technologies. It is derived from epidermal growth factor-like (EGF) peptides and functions as a neuroprotectant and myelin protein stimulant, with a putative mechanism of promoting myelin basic protein (MBP) synthesis and supporting neural repair. CRES101 was in development as a treatment for neuroinflammatory and demyelinating disorders such as chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP), Guillain-Barré syndrome, and optic neuritis. Its development in these indications was discontinued after Phase 1 trials. The asset has also been referenced for multiple sclerosis and infectious or immune-mediated nervous system diseases. CRES101 also appears in the biOasis Technologies/Midatech Pharma orphan disease pipeline under the alternative name BDX-101, indicating a potential focus on neuroinflammatory or neurodegenerative rare diseases in the future[3][5][7][12].
