CRG-B191 is an investigational adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector-based gene therapy developed by Shanghai Creek Pharmaceutical (上海科锐克医药科技有限公司) for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). The therapy is designed to be administered via a single subretinal injection, delivering a genetic payload that enables retinal cells to continuously produce an anti-VEGF protein. This approach aims to provide long-term suppression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), potentially reducing or eliminating the need for frequent intraocular bolus injections of standard anti-VEGF agents. CRG-B191 is currently being evaluated in Phase I/II clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in patients who have previously demonstrated a response to anti-VEGF therapy.
