Overview
Cridanimod is a low molecular weight small molecule immunomodulator and interferon inducer, classified as an acridone derivative. It is primarily used for the treatment and prevention of various viral infections, including influenza, acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), HIV, and herpes infections. Cridanimod functions by inducing endogenous interferons (types 1 and 2), thereby enhancing the immune response against viral pathogens. Additionally, it can increase progesterone receptor expression in endometrial cancer cells, potentially serving as an antineoplastic adjuvant by sensitizing these cells to progestin therapy. Cridanimod has also demonstrated activity against SARS-CoV-2 in preclinical studies[1][2][4][5][6][7].
