Overview

The Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) vaccine is a recombinant subunit vaccine being developed by Hawaii Biotech for the prevention of CCHF. The vaccine utilizes recombinant CCHFV viral antigens to elicit a protective immune response against the Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus, a tick-borne nairovirus that causes severe disease with high fatality rates. By using a subunit approach rather than a live-attenuated or inactivated virus, the vaccine aims to provide a high safety profile while inducing robust neutralizing antibodies and cellular immunity. It is currently in the early stages of development as part of Hawaii Biotech's infectious disease pipeline.
