Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CRLS035 is a novel, highly concentrated sublingual spray formulation of flumazenil developed by Coeruleus Ltd. Flumazenil is a small molecule that acts as a competitive antagonist at the benzodiazepine binding site of the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABA-A) receptor. While flumazenil is traditionally administered intravenously to reverse benzodiazepine-induced sedation or treat overdose, CRLS035 is designed for more convenient delivery and improved treatment availability. The drug is being investigated for several indications, including the reversal of residual hypnotic effects following the use of sleep medications (insomnia management), the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy, and the management of hypersomnolence. By utilizing a sublingual spray delivery method, CRLS035 aims to provide a distinct pharmacokinetic profile and easier administration compared to standard intravenous formulations.
