Gel-One (also known as Gel-200) is a cross-linked hyaluronan (hyaluronic acid) viscoelastic hydrogel developed by Seikagaku Corporation and marketed by Zimmer Biomet. It is indicated for the treatment of pain in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee who have failed to respond adequately to conservative non-pharmacologic therapy and simple analgesics. The product consists of highly purified sodium hyaluronate extracted from avian sources (chicken combs), which is cross-linked using cinnamic acid dimers to increase its viscoelastic properties and residence time in the joint. As a viscosupplement, it acts by providing mechanical lubrication and shock absorption within the synovial space, mimicking the properties of healthy synovial fluid. It is administered as a single 3 mL intra-articular injection.
