Overview

Crown fruit leafy shoots refer to the young leaves and branches of *Xanthoceras sorbifolium* Bunge, also known as yellowhorn. This plant is native to northern China and has a long history of use in traditional Chinese and Mongolian medicine. It is being investigated for its potential in treating metabolic syndrome. Pharmacological studies on *Xanthoceras sorbifolium* have demonstrated various activities, including anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, anti-tumor, neuroprotective, hypoglycemic, and lipid-lowering effects. The leaves specifically contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, polyphenols, alkaloids, and saponins, and have shown to ameliorate type 2 diabetes mellitus by modulating glucolipid metabolism through the gut microbiota-metabolite axis.
