Cryopreserved Amniotic Membrane (CAM) is a biological tissue graft derived from the innermost layer of the human placenta, the amnion. It is processed and cryopreserved to maintain the structural and biochemical properties of the native tissue, including a complex extracellular matrix and a variety of bioactive signaling molecules. CAM provides a structural scaffold for cell migration and proliferation while delivering growth factors (such as TGF-beta, EGF, and FGF) and anti-inflammatory cytokines that promote regenerative healing and reduce scar formation. It is primarily used in the treatment of chronic, non-healing wounds and in orthopedic applications to support the repair of soft tissues like tendons and ligaments. MED Institute Inc. is currently conducting a post-market registry to evaluate the clinical outcomes and utilization of CAM in these settings.
