The CryoSeal FS System is an automated medical device and biological product system designed for the rapid preparation of autologous fibrin sealant from a single unit of a patient's own plasma. Developed by ThermoGenesis Corp. (now ThermoGenesis Holdings), the system produces two primary components—cryoprecipitate (rich in fibrinogen, fibronectin, Factor VIII, von Willebrand Factor, and Factor XIII) and thrombin—within approximately one hour. When combined at the surgical site, these components form a fibrin clot that mimics the final stage of the natural coagulation cascade, providing an adhesive gel to achieve hemostasis. It is primarily indicated as an adjunct to hemostasis during liver resection surgery, offering the advantage of using the patient's own blood to eliminate the risk of viral transmission or immunological reactions associated with pooled human or bovine-derived sealants.
