Overview

CS-1103 is a small molecule sequestrant under development by Clear Scientific for the treatment of acute intoxication from methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as substance (drug) abuse more broadly. It is administered intravenously and works by selectively binding to methamphetamine or fentanyl in the bloodstream, forming a 1:1 complex that rapidly inactivates these drugs and accelerates their elimination via renal clearance. This mechanism removes the drug from circulation, creating a concentration gradient that draws it out of the brain, thereby reversing toxicity within minutes. The approach is similar to that of Sugammadex (BRIDION), which reverses neuromuscular blockade. Preclinical studies have demonstrated high specificity and efficacy for both methamphetamine and fentanyl, with rapid clearance observed in animal models. As of early 2025, CS-1103 has completed Phase 1 trials for substance abuse indications and has entered Phase 2 clinical development for methamphetamine abuse/dependence.
