CS-2606 is a multivalent mRNA-based vaccine candidate developed by CanSino Biologics for the prevention of influenza. The vaccine utilizes messenger RNA technology to encode specific influenza virus antigens, which, once translated by the host's cellular machinery, induce both protective humoral (antibody-mediated) and cellular immune responses against multiple strains of the influenza virus. This candidate represents CanSino's expansion of its vaccine portfolio into mRNA platforms. In 2024, CanSino Biologics established a collaboration with the National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia (NIBM) to co-develop this multivalent vaccine, aiming to address the global burden of seasonal and potentially pandemic influenza.
