**CS1-BATs** are an investigational, target-specific bispecific antibody-armed T-cell therapy for multiple myeloma. The product consists of anti-CD3-activated T cells armed ex vivo with a heteroconjugated anti-CS1 and anti-CD3 bispecific antibody generated from elotuzumab, which recognizes CS1/SLAMF7, and OKT3, which recognizes CD3. The approach is intended to redirect activated T cells to CS1-positive myeloma cells, causing tumor-cell killing and type 1 cytokine release. In preclinical studies from the University of Virginia, CS1-BATs killed CS1-positive myeloma cell lines, including MM.1S and L-363, and increased secretion of interferon-gamma, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor, macrophage inflammatory protein-1 alpha, macrophage inflammatory protein-1 beta, and RANTES.
