CS187 is a novel nitroxide-functionalized prednisolone hybrid designed to enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy, particularly cisplatin, in the treatment of cervical cancer. As a redox-active compound, CS187 functions by increasing intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and depleting glutathione (GSH), thereby inducing oxidative stress and DNA damage in cancer cells. Simultaneously, it retains the ability to bind to the glucocorticoid receptor (GR), a target often linked to chemoresistance in cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Preclinical studies demonstrate that CS187 exhibits potent anti-proliferative activity and acts synergistically with cisplatin to reduce cancer cell viability while maintaining relatively low toxicity toward healthy cells.
