Overview

CS32497 is a small molecule dual inhibitor of ALK2 (Activin receptor type 1) and ALK5 (Transforming growth factor beta receptor type 1) kinases, currently under development by Chipscreen Biosciences. These kinases are key mediators in the Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP) and Transforming Growth Factor-beta (TGF-β) signaling pathways, which regulate various cellular processes including erythropoiesis and iron metabolism. By dual inhibition of ALK2 and ALK5, CS32497 is intended to address ineffective erythropoiesis and reduce hepcidin expression, thereby treating anemia. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and associated anemia.
