CS91 is a novel nitroxide-functionalized prednisolone hybrid designed to enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy, specifically cisplatin, in cervical cancer. It acts as a dual-action agent by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) and modulating the cellular redox state. Mechanistically, CS91 increases intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and depletes glutathione (GSH) levels, leading to increased DNA damage and potent anti-proliferative effects in cervical squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) cells. This redox-active hybrid is intended to overcome chemoresistance and reduce the dose-dependent toxicity associated with standard cisplatin treatment.
